This page says what the experiment collects. Nate runs it as a personal project. It is not a charity. The contact address is theonedollaraiexperiment@gmail.com.
Email you submit
If you request updates, we store the email address you type, the fact that you asked for updates, and the time of the request. The address is saved as pending. The form does not mark it confirmed, and it does not send a mailing. If you use “Stop email updates,” that choice is stored on the same record.
The address is used to hold your request for experiment updates, to send the prompt or a results update if you paid and we need an address for delivery, and to reply if you email us.
To remove an address, use “Stop email updates” on the homepage, email UNSUBSCRIBE to the contact address, or ask us to delete it.
Payments
This website does not collect card numbers, bank logins, or Venmo passwords.
If you submit a payment claim, we store the email address for delivery, the Venmo username you type, the amount you select ($1, $5, or $10), the time, and the referral label on the page if it is a short plain word. The claim is marked unverified. Nate uses it to look for a matching Venmo payment and to email what you paid for. It is not a receipt and it is not treated as proof of payment. Ask us to delete a claim by emailing the contact address.
If Stripe buttons are on the page, they open Stripe Checkout. Stripe collects what it needs to take the payment, under its own policy. Nate receives the payment record Stripe shows him, such as the amount, the time, and an email address, so he can deliver what you paid for and handle a refund.
Venmo payments happen in the Venmo app, to the business profile @ODAIE3. If you email a Venmo username, amount, and date so the payment can be matched, those details are used for the match, delivery, or a refund. Do not email screenshots that show account numbers or other sensitive data.
Visits and referral links
Pages send a small first-party count of the load. It records a daily total by:
- the page (
/,/privacy, or/terms) utm_source,utm_medium, andutm_campaign, when each label is a short word made of letters, numbers, hyphens, or underscores- otherwise a
reflabel of that same shape, or the hostname of the site that linked here (for examplereddit.com)
We do not store your IP address, a cookie, a device id, or the full address of the page that linked to you. A label with an @ sign, a space, or other unexpected characters is discarded, so an email address placed in a link is not kept. Reloading the page can increase the count. We do not try to tell people apart. This is a count of loads, not a list of visitors.
The server may keep the connecting IP address in memory for about a minute, and only to ignore a burst of repeat calls. That address is not written to the database. The limit is per server instance, so it is a backstop, not a perfect shield.
If an analytics token is configured, the page also loads Cloudflare’s cookieless Web Analytics beacon from static.cloudflareinsights.com. Cloudflare then receives the technical data described in their Web Analytics docs and privacy policy. The beacon is left out when no token is set. Web Analytics shows visits and referring sites. It does not replace the referral-label counts above, because it does not break out utm_ parameters.
Referral labels exist so Nate can see which public posts brought people here. They are not sold, and they are not used to build an advertising profile.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Email requests and visit counts are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database used only for this experiment.
Cookies
The experiment’s own pages do not set a cookie. Cloudflare Web Analytics, when it is enabled, is built not to use cookies. Stripe Checkout may set cookies on Stripe’s site.
How long we keep it
Email records stay until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion, or until the experiment ends and the list is deleted. Daily visit counts stay so the referral totals can still be read. Payment records stay with Venmo or Stripe under their own rules.
Children
The experiment is not directed at anyone under 18. Don’t sign up or pay if you are under 18.
Changes
If this page changes in a meaningful way, the date at the top will change. The version on this site is the current one.
